What are the locations that I can participate in? Can I start my own walk?

We will have several locations all across the province participating in the 2018 OPS Walk & Run for the United Way. Please visit Locations to see a list of all locations and event details.

If you don’t see a location listed near your ministry, agency or broader public sector organization and wish to start your own walk & run, please contact opswalkrun@ontario.ca where we can help you get your event started.

What are the options for walking or running? Will the routes be accessible?

You have the option of doing a 2.5 km walk or a 5 km run. You can decide on the event day which option you wish to do. Please note this is not a timed walk & run.

Yes, every location will have an accessible route. Please see the Locations page for a list of locations and route information.

Is there a registration fee?

There is no registration fee but we do require every participant to raise a minimum of $25. This can be done either through family or friends or self-donation.

Where does the money for the event go?

The 2018 OPS Walk & Run for United Way raises money for local United Ways all across the province. This year, you are able to select which local United Way you would like all of the money you raise to be donated to. You can only select one local United Way when you register and it must be a local UW within Ontario. Are there prizes?

We have many great prizes lined up to recognize the efforts of our participants. Please check our Prizes page for more details.

 

How can I learn more about becoming a sponsor?

We have three levels of sponsorships: Sprinter ($1000+), Jogger ($500+), Walker ($499 & under). Please visit Become a Sponsor for more information on the benefits of becoming a sponsor.

Will my personal information be shared or traded with anyone?

The personal information collected is in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. F.31 by virtue of it being necessary for the proper administration of the OPS Walk & Run for United Way. Donor information is only shared with United Way Toronto as the local United Way host for the OPS Walk & Run for United Way. UW Toronto requires all donor information in order to process tax receipts and process donations. Please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Will the event be cancelled or postponed due to weather?

In the event of thunder or extreme weather, the Queen’s Park event will be moved inside the MacDonald block. Assigned start times will stay the same. For regional events, please contact your event lead to inquire about rain dates.

Can I wear a costume?

Yes! We encourage participants to wear Halloween costumes keeping in mind you are also going to be either walking or running. We have a prize for the best Halloween costume. Please visit our Prizes page to see how you can enter into the Halloween costume contest.
